PVCFC partners with AG Biotech to develop sustainable agricultural solutions

PVCFC signed a strategic cooperation agreement with AG Biotech, Inc. (US) to research, develop, and apply biotechnology in the agricultural value chain, aiming for sustainable farming practices.

The signing ceremony took place in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) on 28/1. This partnership combines Ca Mau Fertilizer Joint Stock Company's (PVCFC) strengths in fertilizer production and distribution with AG Biotech's expertise in researching and developing biological and microbial products. Both parties aim to create natural growth regulation solutions for crops, reduce environmental impact, and align with global sustainable agriculture trends.

Under the agreement, PVCFC and AG Biotech will collaborate on integrated product research, combining inorganic and organic fertilizers with biological and microbial agents. These solutions are designed to enhance nutrient absorption, improve soil quality, and increase crop resistance. Concurrently, the two entities will conduct trials and progressively scale up cultivation models that utilize biological and microbial natural growth regulators in key agricultural regions, especially for staple crops such as rice, fruit trees, industrial crops, and vegetables.

The cooperation also includes training and technical transfer for PVCFC's distribution network, technical teams, and farmers. The objective is to empower producers to access and effectively implement nutritional and biological solutions in their farming practices. Based on research outcomes, the partnership will explore commercialization opportunities for these collaborative products in both domestic and international markets.

Through these integrated solutions, PVCFC and AG Biotech also aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture, optimize fertilizer usage, enhance soil fertility, and protect farming ecosystems. This strategic direction aligns with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria and Net Zero development trends. According to a PVCFC representative, these activities represent a concrete step in the company's strategic transition from a traditional fertilizer producer to a comprehensive agricultural solutions provider, integrating science, technology, biology, and technical services.

He emphasized that the cooperation extends beyond commercial aspects to focus on sustainable development.

With over 15 years of development, Ca Mau Fertilizer boasts a modern production system, strong research and development (R&D) capabilities, and an extensive distribution network both domestically and internationally. PVCFC's products are present in more than 20 countries, demonstrating the quality and reputation of Vietnam's fertilizer industry. In its long-term development strategy, alongside building comprehensive crop nutrition solutions, the company identifies biological solutions as a core focus to support farmers across the entire production value chain.
