Rang Dong transforms into a technology enterprise

Rang Dong shifts towards becoming a technology enterprise, providing smart-green solutions after nearly 70 years of development, amid accelerating digital transformation and the green economy.

Nguyen Hoang Kien, Deputy General Director of Rang Dong Light Bulb and Vacuum Flask Joint Stock Company, stated that the company is restructuring its operating model to become a solutions-based technology enterprise. This involves offering individual products alongside integrated systems capable of connectivity, centralized management, and optimized operations.

This shift is driven by the rapid advancement of digital technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and energy-saving trends, which are reshaping industry structures. These forces compel the company to expand its role beyond traditional manufacturing. In this new phase, technology must be applied to address specific real-world and operational challenges, rather than merely focusing on product development.

"Technology is only meaningful when it is applied to solve practical problems and delivers long-term utility", Mr. Kien said.

The foundation for this transformation is built upon internal research and development (R&D) capabilities, a modern electronics manufacturing system, and automated production lines. This enables the company to progressively master core technologies, aiming for international standards in smart lighting and automatic control.

Rang Dong Light Bulb and Vacuum Flask Joint Stock Company, established in 1961, has become one of Vietnam's leading enterprises in the lighting industry. With nearly 70 years of development, the company consistently innovates technology. Rang Dong also develops "Make in Vietnam" technology products, supporting the goal of building a green, smart, and sustainable life.

According to the Q1 business report, the company's revenue exceeded 1,795 billion VND, a 17.5% increase, while profit reached 131.6 billion VND, up 16.4% year-on-year. The company provides LED lighting products, smart electrical devices, and solution systems for smart indoor, smart city, and smart farm applications, along with many energy-saving, environmentally friendly designs. Notably, project construction contributed significantly, growing by 174%, e-commerce by 27%, and exports by 91% compared to the same period.

With this new strategy, the company will focus on a product ecosystem, solution systems, and 4.0+ services, with core groups including smart home, smart city, smart farm, and renewable energy. Each solution forms a link in the value chain, aiming to optimize energy and enhance quality of life.

RalliSmart is Rang Dong's developed smart technology ecosystem, serving as a platform for connecting, operating, and providing digital services for living and working spaces. This ecosystem encompasses IoT devices, gateways, control software, data platforms, and AI, thereby supporting centralized management, optimized operations, energy savings, and enhanced user experience.

According to company leadership, this solution offers open integration capabilities compliant with international standards such as Matter and oneM2M. This allows for flexible deployment in various settings, from apartments and villas to schools, hospitals, factories, and smart cities.

In parallel with its business model transformation, the company unveiled a new brand identity. This identity is built on a philosophy of inheritance and development, retaining core values while expressing a long-term vision.

The red sun emblem, an image associated with Rang Dong for generations, is retained, representing energy, prestige, and a nearly seven-decade legacy. A new element is the color green, stylized as an upward-pointing arrow, symbolizing dynamism and developmental direction.

The company also introduced a new slogan: "Smart Green – Accompanying Vietnamese Quality of Life". The three elements in the slogan reflect commitments to technology, sustainable development, and a partnership role with Vietnamese users.

"The unveiling of the new brand identity is not merely a visual change; it also affirms our long-term development direction towards becoming a smart-green technology solutions enterprise, contributing to promoting digital transformation, green economic development, and enhancing the quality of life for Vietnamese people", a company representative emphasized.

Furthermore, another highlight of this strategy is the focus on developing "individualized" solutions. Accordingly, each project is designed to suit the specific characteristics of each locality, construction, and customer, rather than applying a general model.

Currently, Rang Dong's products are available in over 50 countries and territories, progressively integrating into the global supply chain. The company is also adjusting its distribution model towards a multi-channel approach, combining e-commerce with traditional dealer networks, and providing services from consulting, design, and implementation to after-sales support nationwide.
