Solar community hosts event to connect solar power businesses

The national solar community organized an early-year gathering in TP HCM to connect solar power businesses, share market information, and update on energy policies.

The 2026 new year event, themed "One Sun - One Direction", held in TP HCM on 7/3, served as an early-year meeting point for businesses, experts, and leaders in the solar power sector from Vietnam and internationally. According to event organizers, the theme reflects the spirit of companionship, connection, and sustainable development within Vietnam's solar energy community, as the industry enters a transformative phase concerning policies and business models.

The event provided a forum for businesses to review the solar power market landscape, update on new industry developments, and share strategic perspectives and development directions for the next phase. This offered companies opportunities to connect resources, expand cooperation, and seek sustainable growth opportunities in 2026.

A key highlight of the program was the specialized presentations on industry policies and operations. These discussions focused on updating new regulations, analyzing policy impacts, and exchanging practical implementation experiences.

At the event, Nguyen Xuan Quy, Vice President of the Vietnam Clean Energy Association, presented a specialized topic on applying Decree 58/2025/ND-CP in business operations. Previously, on 3/3, the Government issued Decree 58 to detail certain provisions of the Electricity Law related to the development of renewable energy and new energy sources.

According to the decree, several incentive mechanisms were introduced to promote clean energy development, including rooftop solar power. At the event, association representatives analyzed key aspects of the decree and shared practical experiences to provide businesses with more information for implementing renewable energy projects.

Additionally, Tran Xuan Vinh Nghia, a representative from the Business Department of Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC), presented a specialized topic on the impact of the two-part electricity tariff mechanism on solar power business operations. The presentation clarified the new electricity pricing mechanism and its effects on investment, operation, and business plans for entities in the industry.

Through these presentations, the program not only updated important policy changes but also helped shape strategic thinking, enabling businesses to adapt proactively to energy market fluctuations in this new phase. The event also offered an opportunity for the business community to reflect on the development journey of Vietnam's solar energy sector. From its initial phase with incentive policies to a period of investment boom and strong growth, the solar power industry is now entering a restructuring phase, aiming for sustainable, efficient development aligned with the national energy plan.

Over recent years, the solar power industry has experienced various development stages, from initial investment incentives to rapid project scale expansion. The market is now entering an adjustment phase to better align with the national energy plan and sustainable development orientation.

Beyond business networking, the program also included a social contribution activity. At the event, organizers donated 365 million VND to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in TP HCM to support disadvantaged individuals in the area. According to the organizers, this activity demonstrated the solar energy business community's involvement in social initiatives and contributed to spreading sustainable development values linked to future energy transition and emission reduction goals.
