The cooperation between Sun Group and CAI began with a strategic agreement in March to develop Phu Quoc International Airport as a "destination airport." Representatives from both companies stated that expanding this cooperation from a specific project to a long-term framework will help Sun Group access international expertise in airport planning, management, and operation, gradually building its capacity for developing aviation infrastructure to international standards.
This partnership builds on Sun Group's nearly one-decade investment in aviation infrastructure. The group currently operates Van Don International Airport, Vietnam's first private international airport, which became operational in 2018. Sun Group also manages and expands Phu Quoc International Airport for APEC 2027 and is developing the Phan Thiet Civil Airport project.
Through its collaboration with CAI, which has advised over 60 airports in more than 20 countries, Sun Group expects to enhance operational efficiency and passenger experience at its aviation infrastructure projects.

Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Sun Group, stated that this initiative reflects a long-term vision for aviation infrastructure. He emphasized that the objective is not only to build modern airports but also to develop international-standard capabilities in development and operation, thereby creating more connectivity gateways and improving the competitiveness of Vietnam's aviation sector.
Eugene Gan, Chief Executive Officer of Changi Airports International, praised Sun Group as a strategic partner with a "Do big, Move fast" spirit, similar to CAI. He expressed pride in partnering with Sun Group for aviation infrastructure development in Vietnam and acknowledged the growth of Sun PhuQuoc Airways. According to Gan, the cooperation aims to enhance connectivity, improve travel experiences, and bring Vietnamese destinations closer to the international market.
Company representatives believe that expanding this cooperation creates a foundation for their relationship, helping to integrate international standards into Vietnam's aviation infrastructure. This initiative is expected to boost connectivity, tourism, logistics, and economic growth in the coming period.
