Sweco Vietnam, a subsidiary of the Swedish Sweco group, has begun providing electric mopeds to all its engineers. The company believes these electric mopeds are well-suited for Vietnamese traffic conditions, offering benefits such as reduced CO2 emissions, lower noise levels, and efficient energy consumption.
Sweco Vietnam outlined two primary goals for equipping employees with electric mopeds: improving employee welfare and supporting the Sweco group's Net Zero 2040 commitment. Rather than a voluntary incentive, the company adopted a proactive strategy to ensure consistent and effective implementation.
At the electric moped handover ceremony, Dirk Boydens, General Director of Sweco Vietnam, stated, "Providing electric mopeds to employees demonstrates how we translate our sustainable development commitments into concrete action. This is not only a solution to reduce emissions in daily operations but also provides practical benefits for employees, while promoting environmentally friendly mobility solutions."

On a global scale, the Sweco group has unveiled its roadmap to achieve net zero emissions by 2040. This commitment involves integrating ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria into all decisions, from design and technical consulting to corporate governance and internal operations.
Dirk Boydens emphasized that the electric moped initiative is part of a broader, long-term sustainable development framework being implemented by Sweco, not a standalone, short-term project. In Vietnam, beyond consulting on green buildings, energy efficiency, and climate change adaptation, the company is actively enhancing its internal operations. This includes optimizing office energy consumption, streamlining workflows, and improving employee commuting options.
Sweco Vietnam (Boydens Vietnam part of Sweco) is an engineering and design consulting firm with extensive experience in complex construction projects, existing structure renovations, and sustainable development initiatives across Vietnam. The introduction of electric mopeds for staff represents a tangible action to reduce emissions directly controlled by the company.

Amidst rapid urbanization and escalating environmental pressures, experts underscore the critical role of green transportation in curbing emissions and enhancing urban quality of life. Business-led initiatives, especially those implemented company-wide, can generate a significant ripple effect, fostering more sustainable commuting habits within the broader community.
Through its electric moped strategy for employees, Sweco Vietnam actively integrates sustainable principles into its operations. This initiative aligns with its pursuit of a low-emission future, seamlessly connecting employee welfare, environmental responsibility, and sustainable growth.
