According to Vertu’s latest announcement, an identification mechanism is being implemented from the manufacturing process to ensure synchronized service quality and protect consumer rights. Consequently, each Alphafold, Vertu’s new generation of foldable smartphones, will be assigned a unique serial number (SN) specific to its distribution market.

The manufacturer explains that this identification code helps recognize the origin and distribution market of each Alphafold. It also serves as the basis for the system to authenticate access to accompanying exclusive services. If a device is activated outside its designated region, the system will automatically suspend access to these exclusive privileges, notably the 24/7 Vertu Concierge premium butler service.

With this new identification mechanism, users who choose phones from unknown sources or grey markets may not gain full access to the brand’s core service ecosystem.

For customers who select Vertu as a gift for partners or strategic connections, this risk not only diminishes the recipient’s experience but also impacts the giver’s image and reputation.

"A gift valued at hundreds of millions of dong that cannot fully activate its inherent privileges will lead the recipient to question the product’s completeness and the thoughtfulness of the selection process", a representative from Vertu Vietnam, the distributor, stated.

The phone identification mechanism emerges as the market sees various sources with differing prices and origins. For many years, Vertu has been more than just a technological device; it elevates its owner through unique design, luxurious materials, scarcity, and especially its ecosystem of exclusive services.

According to a Vertu Vietnam representative, many cases involve customers purchasing devices from unofficial sources, only to discover, upon activation and use, that their device has restricted important privileges due to non-compliance with brand standards. They then seek support from the official distributor. "This negatively affects the user’s experience. Therefore, the identification code is a way to limit the spread of unofficial goods in the market", the representative added.
