Zalando announced its Erfurt logistics center in Germany, which employs approximately 2,700 people, will cease operations in 9/2026. Concurrently, the company will discontinue operations at three other warehouses managed by external service providers.
According to Zalando, this decision follows a comprehensive review of its European logistics network. The company is actively reshaping this system to strengthen its position in the European fashion and lifestyle market.

This move follows Zalando's completed merger with competitor About You in 11/2025. "For over one decade, Zalando's team of approximately 2,700 employees in Erfurt has been a vital part of our success story and a pillar of our logistics system. We have a deep connection with Erfurt and the region, and we are committed to working with local authorities and social organizations to minimize the impact," a company representative stated.
Zalando emphasized that these adjustments to its fulfillment network will enable the company to continue "growing as planned". In the medium term, the company aims to achieve a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5% - 10% for both gross merchandise volume (GMV) and revenue. Additionally, Zalando will continue to invest in logistics technology, automation, and sustainable practices across its European logistics network.
Following these adjustments, the Zalando Group's logistics network will comprise 14 fulfillment centers in seven countries.
Zalando is a leading European fashion and lifestyle e-commerce group, established in 2008 in Berlin, Germany. Beyond its retail operations, Zalando positions itself as a fashion technology platform, focusing on personalized experiences, automated logistics, and sustainable development.
