On 9/9, Dong Hieu High School administrators met with parents and the 4 students involved to understand the incident and issue a warning.
According to reports, the 10th-grade student and the group had a prior disagreement over suspected negative comments about each other. On the morning of 5/9, while returning home after the opening ceremony, the student was stopped by another girl and hit on the head with a helmet.
After she fell to the ground, two other students joined in, pulling her hair and repeatedly punching and kicking her. Several people witnessed the assault but did not intervene.
Ministry of Education and Training regulations stipulate three disciplinary actions for students violating school rules: warnings, reprimands, or temporary suspension (up to one year). In practice, most schools impose 1-2 week suspensions, lower conduct grades, reprimands, or warnings.
Dong Hieu High School has not yet decided on specific disciplinary measures.
