Military academies have been accepting civilian students since 2002, but admissions were paused from 2017-2021 for organizational restructuring and innovation.
Recently, due to a shortage of high-quality human resources, the Ministry of National Defense has allowed several military academies to resume civilian admissions. In addition to the three mentioned above, the Political Academy, Military Technical Academy, Military Medical Academy, and Military University of Culture and Arts are also accepting civilian students.
Tuition fees are generally lower than most universities nationwide. For example, the Military Technical Academy's tuition for civilian students is estimated at 18.5 million VND for the 2025-2026 academic year (10 months), and the Military Science Academy's tuition is around 17.1 million VND.
