38 students admitted to 10th grade supplementary enrollment have results canceled after one day

Just one day after being confirmed for supplementary admission to 10th grade at Phan Boi Chau - Phan Thiet High School, 38 students had their results revoked because they had already enrolled in other schools.

The Department of Education and Training issued the cancellation decision on 25/8, immediately after discovering the issue.

Nguyen Thanh Hiep, the principal, explained that initially, these students had listed the school as their first choice but did not meet the required score of 39/40 based on their four-year secondary school academic records. After the initial admissions, the school still had available slots, prompting supplementary admissions. The students in question reapplied. However, after the evaluations, the school discovered that these students had already been admitted to their second-choice schools and had completed enrollment procedures there.

He noted that this was the first time Phan Boi Chau - Phan Thiet High School conducted supplementary admissions. Additionally, the school could not access the admissions data system to verify student statuses, leading to this unforeseen situation.

"If these 38 students were accepted, their initially assigned schools would face a shortage in student numbers," Hiep stated.

This year, Lam Dong province primarily used academic records for 10th-grade admissions, reserving entrance exams only for specialized schools. The cancellation of supplementary admissions for these students is an unusual occurrence. In other localities, the standard requirement for students to apply for supplementary admissions is that they must not have been admitted to any previous preferences.
