The Jinan University Program is a collaborative undergraduate training initiative between FPT University and Jinan University, China, which awards a bachelor's degree from Jinan University. For the Chinese Language major, students follow two study stages: one in Vietnam and one in China.

During the first two years in Vietnam, students build foundational listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. They also explore Chinese culture and society, developing teamwork, critical thinking, problem-solving, and intercultural communication skills. This stage strengthens their language proficiency and study methods before transitioning to a more intensive Chinese-speaking environment.
The Jinan University Program does not require mandatory entry-level Chinese proficiency. Students who have not yet achieved HSK 3 can enroll in the Global Citizen Chinese (CGC) program before starting their major.
Master Nguyen Thi Dung, Head of the Chinese Language Faculty at Jinan University Program, states that the Vietnam study phase helps students identify common errors made by Vietnamese speakers regarding pronunciation, tones, sentence structure, and expression.
"This comparative learning approach helps students not only mimic but also deeply understand the language's essence. When they transition to a native environment, this knowledge becomes vibrant through practical experience," she said.
Beyond academics, students also have opportunities to connect with and learn about the operations, work culture, and human resource needs of Chinese-affiliated businesses in Vietnam, which are partners of the Jinan University Program.

After completing the Vietnam stage and meeting transfer requirements, students specialize in Chinese and explore applied orientations such as commerce and pedagogy at the College of Chinese Language and Culture, Jinan University, in Guangzhou, China.
The native environment helps learners deeply understand the culture behind the language, enabling appropriate communication and behavior in various relationships and situations.
During the final two years, students also engage in practical enterprise studies, internships, and complete their graduation thesis.
Jinan University, established in 1906, is a key public university under China's "Project 211" and "Double First-Class University Project" initiatives. The university ranks 501-600 globally according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026 and is tied for 483rd place in the QS World University Rankings 2027.
Teaching Chinese to international students is a long-standing strength of Jinan University's College of Chinese Language and Culture. The college's international Chinese language bachelor's program began recruiting students in 1995, and by 2023, it had trained over 110,000 learners from more than 100 countries and territories.
Furthermore, the Chinese Language major at the Jinan University Program aims to develop three layers of competence simultaneously: language proficiency and Chinese cultural understanding; soft skills; and professional skills. This approach helps students avoid being "strong in foreign language but lacking expertise," broadening career choices in fields such as commerce, import-export, marketing, tourism, education, and translation/interpretation.
