Medical laboratory technology and nursing applicants need a "fair" 12th-grade result or a graduation score of 6.5. Nursing considers high school graduates from the past three years, while other programs only accept this year's graduates for transcript-based applications.

Earlier, Hanoi Medical University announced the admission of 80 additional students in social work. This is a new program this year, and it is also the first time the school has had to hold additional admissions in decades.
The selection is based on high school graduation exam scores in combinations A00 (math, physics, chemistry), B00 (math, chemistry, biology), and B08 (math, biology, English). The minimum application score is 17.
Applications are due by 16:00 on 12/9.
This year, admission scores for medicine and pharmacy decreased in most programs and schools, including top universities. For medicine in 15 major universities, scores dropped by 0.46 to 2.55 points. Other programs like nursing, public health, preventive medicine, midwifery, and nutrition saw decreases of 3-5.94 points in all schools.
Experts predicted this decrease as the high school graduation exams in math, chemistry, and biology (the main subjects for medical school applications) were deemed more challenging. The average scores in these three subjects also declined significantly compared to last year.
Additionally, while the number of openings in many medical schools remained similar to or increased from last year, the applicant pool shrank. Only nearly 70,000 students chose biology in this year's exam, compared to over 340,000 last year. Chemistry also saw a decrease of over 100,000 students.
The Ministry of Education and Training anticipated this and lowered the minimum score for healthcare programs to 17-20.5, a two-point decrease from last year and the lowest ever.
