The High School for the Gifted, part of Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, announced its 10th-grade exam schedule and enrollment targets on the morning of 18/3. The school noted that the exam schedule might be adjusted to align with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training's 10th-grade admission timeline.
The 10th-grade exam schedule for the High School for the Gifted in 2026 is as follows:

Prospective students must take at least four subjects: Math, Literature, English, and a specialized subject. Students may take a maximum of two specialized subjects, provided the schedules do not overlap.
Non-specialized subject exams consist of two parts: essay and multiple-choice. For specialized subjects, the exams are essay-only, with the exception of English.
The admission score for 10th grade is the total score of the four exams, with the specialized subject score multiplied by two. No individual exam score may be below 2 points. For specialized classes admitting students based on two subject combinations, the school will determine the admission score for each group, considering exam results and the number of preferences.
The school stated that students may register multiple preferences for specialized classes, listed in order of priority. Students are assessed based on their exam results, regardless of the order of preferences, but will only be admitted to their single highest successful preference.
This year, the school will enroll 595 students, consistent with previous years. Both campuses offer two-session learning daily, but the campus in An Dong does not provide day-boarding facilities.
Specific enrollment targets for specialized classes at the High School for the Gifted in 2026 are:

Students can register for the entrance exams on the school's website from 4 to 10/5. The exam fee is 150,000 VND per subject, and each preference costs 50,000 VND.
The High School for the Gifted was established in 1996. It is the only school in Ho Chi Minh City to organize its own independent entrance exam, separate from the 10th-grade exam administered by the Department of Education and Training.
Last year, the specialized Math class had the highest cut-off score at 33.75 points, while other classes ranged from 24.4 to 33 points.
