The government issued a decision on 7/5 to merge six universities and colleges. Accordingly, the Southern Law College and Northern Law College, both under the Ministry of Justice, will merge into Can Tho University and the University of Sciences (Thai Nguyen University), which are overseen by the Ministry of Education and Training.
The University of Finance - Accounting will become the Quang Ngai branch campus of the University of Finance - Marketing, under the Ministry of Finance.
The involved institutions and units are required to hand over and receive students, staff, and assets in their current state, ensuring normal operations and preventing any loss or waste.
The scale of the educational institutions is as follows:

After 1975, it was renamed Can Tho University. Additionally, the university has 10 faculties, three research institutes, one Practice High School for Pedagogy, and two branch campuses. It serves approximately 50,000 students. |

It has over 10,000 students. |
| University of Finance - Accounting: Established in 2011, it was upgraded from the College of Finance - Accounting. The university has its main campus in Quang Ngai and a branch campus in Hue, with approximately 170 lecturers and nearly 1,500 students. | University of Finance - Marketing: Established in 1976, it originated from the Central Price Cadre School. Currently, UFM enrolls over 20,000 students and trainees, supported by approximately 700 staff and lecturers. Its main campus is located in Duc Nhuan ward, with five other facilities dispersed across Ho Chi Minh City. |
