On 20/7, actor Nicholas Tse announced his father's passing via his personal page. He wrote: "Throughout his life, my father dedicated himself to cinema, always hoping to bring joy and smiles to every audience member. When I was young, I saw him troubled and in pain, but no matter what, he always appeared on screen looking perfect."
Nicholas Tse recalled a phrase his father often said: "The show must go on." He expressed his wish for audiences not to cry when remembering the character Long Tu or other roles played by the artist. "Because if so, my father would not feel at peace," Nicholas wrote. He hoped audiences would remember Tse Yin for his charming demeanor and ever-present smile.

For over 5 years, Tse Yin lived in seclusion, not participating in any events. While some sources suggested he had suffered a stroke, his family did not respond. According to AM 730 in May, his health was stable, and his mind was clear. Whenever he went out, at least two people accompanied him to provide care.
Also in May, Tse Yin was seen by the public in a wheelchair, dressed in sportswear, at a Hong Kong cafe. Many young people recognized the actor and asked for photos, which he happily agreed to.
Tse Yin entered the entertainment industry in 1953, making his mark with the role of the gambling god Long Tu in King Of Gambler. He also starred in Xiao Shi Yi Lang, The King of Kings, The Kung Fu Master, The Legend of the Condor Heroes, The Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain, Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils, and Shaolin Soccer. His most recent film was Time (2021), which depicted the lives of the elderly. After this work, Tse Yin made fewer public appearances at entertainment events.
The artist had many relationships and two marriages to actresses Zhen Zhen and Deborah Lee. He and Deborah Lee had two children, Nicholas Tse and Jennifer Tse, before divorcing in 1995. Tse Yin also dated Coco, a model 49 years his junior, for 12 years. After their breakup in 2018, Tse Yin sent Coco HKD 20 million (over USD 2.5 million) to support her life.
