On the afternoon of 14/5, Opal attended an event to announce activities for the 73rd Miss World competition, which will take place in Vietnam in August and September. On the red carpet, the beauty wore an embellished fishtail gown with a floor-sweeping feathered train by designer Pham Dang Anh Thu.

She arrived in TP HCM two days prior, following her participation in the Miss World Vietnam finals in late March. Over the past few days, Opal has surveyed locations with the organizing committee, completed a promotional photoshoot for the competition, and experienced local culture and cuisine.

Opal Suchata stated, "This is my second visit to Vietnam, and I am happy to receive such a warm welcome. I believe Miss World 2026 will be spectacular in your beautiful country."

She was crowned Miss World 2025 in June 2025 in India. Opal is 23 years old, 1,8 m tall, and is a law student at Thammasat University, specializing in International Relations. She is fluent in English and Chinese. In November 2024, she competed in Miss Universe in Mexico, where she placed as 3rd runner-up.

Miss World Vietnam 2025 Phan Phuong Oanh chose a voluminous, princess-style gown. After her crowning in March, she has nearly a year to prepare for Miss World 2027 in Tanzania.

Miss Luong Thuy Linh is among the 10 individuals selected by the organizing committee to serve as ambassadors promoting Vietnamese culture at the competition. She garnered attention at Miss World 2019, placing in the top 12.

Miss Tieu Vy wore a halter-neck dress, attending the event alongside Mister Tuan Ngoc.

Miss Bao Ngoc opted for a low-cut dress and a classic hairstyle. She was announced as the host country contestant for this year's edition in August 2025. "I am mentally prepared to enter the competition with over 130 beauties from around the world," the beauty stated.

Miss Kieu Duy (left) and Runner-up Khanh Nhu served as MCs for the event. They will also host the program "Her Journey To Vietnam", which will air on digital platforms throughout the competition.

Julia Morley, Chairwoman of Miss World, stated that Vietnam was chosen as the destination for the competition's 75th anniversary due to her admiration for the country's beauty and the friendliness and hospitality of its people.

The organizing committee announced that Haiphong and TP HCM will host the competition's main activities. The final round is scheduled for 5/9, expected to be held in TP HCM.

Miss World is recognized by experts and fans as one of the two most prestigious beauty pageants globally, alongside Miss Universe. The competition originated in the UK in 1951 and has been held 72 times across various regions worldwide.

The competition celebrates global solidarity by seeking women who possess beauty, education, and meaningful community projects. For many years, Miss World has embraced the message of "Beauty with a Purpose". Most winning beauties receive strong fan support. In the 72nd edition held in India, the winner was Opal Suchata from Thailand.

In previous Miss World competitions, notable Vietnamese contestants included Lan Khue (top 11 finalist), Do My Linh (top 40), Luong Thuy Linh (top 12), Tieu Vy (top 30), Do Thi Ha (top 13), Mai Phuong (top 40), and Y Nhi (top 40).
