Cung Loi is consistently one of the most warmly welcomed figures by both critics and audiences at the festival. Born in 1965, she rose to fame starring in director Truong Nghe Muu's film Red Sorghum. The two collaborated on a series of acclaimed works, including Ju Dou, Raise the Red Lantern, The Story of Qiu Ju, To Live, and Shanghai Triad.
