Hong Kong actress transforms after weight loss

TVB actress Ngo Van Y, who once admitted to weighing 95 kg due to overeating, now maintains a weight of 50 kg.

Ngo Van Y shared her journey to a slender physique and confidence as an actress in Mp Weekly. As a student, she indulged in food, often mimicking her brother's eating habits without exercise. During the pandemic, largely confined to home, Ngo Van Y's weight climbed to 95 kg due to a lack of dietary control.

After the pandemic, Ngo Van Y sought employment, aspiring to join TVB's acting training program. However, her overweight physique and cumbersome movements made her realize that her dream of entering the film industry was challenging. She resolved to lose weight, shed her self-consciousness, and pursue a professional acting career.

Initially, Ngo Van Y attempted various methods without success, enduring periods of extreme dieting and intense exercise. Eventually, she discovered a sustainable approach. She ate the same meals as her family but stopped when feeling 60-70% full. Instead of daily workouts, Ngo Van Y adopted an intermittent exercise routine, gradually increasing duration and intensity as her stamina improved.

This approach fostered a love for fitness in Ngo Van Y, who now feels restless if she misses a gym session. Consequently, exercise transformed from a burdensome task into an enjoyable activity.

Ngo Van Y no longer experiences the misery of hunger or exhaustion. Over the past three years, she has lost 45 kg. She now enjoys a more flexible diet, consistently increasing her workout duration and intensity after indulging in a hearty meal.

While losing weight, Ngo Van Y attended acting classes and took on unnamed roles in TVB productions. In 2023, she secured a supporting role in *News Queen*, starring Charmaine Sheh, which opened doors to more projects like *The Unholy Alliance 2* and *Virtual Lover*. This year, Ngo Van Y garnered significant attention for her portrayal of Ho Vu Phuong in the series *Goddess of Justice*.
