Justin Bieber's performance on the evening of 11/4 local time (afternoon of 12/4 Hanoi time) was the most anticipated event at this year's festival, according to Billboard. The singer delivered an intimate set, playing old YouTube video clips from the beginning of his music career on a laptop.
He searched for his hit song "Baby", asking the audience if they remembered it, then performed short segments of "Beauty and a Beat", "Never Say Never", "Confident", and a cover of "With You". During the video playback, some clips experienced technical issues, prompting the singer to joke, "Wi-Fi, come on."
Compared to Sabrina Carpenter's performance the day before, Bieber's set was notably minimalist. For most of the show, he performed alone, singing and moving across the stage. There were no dancers, complex props, costume changes, or elaborate set designs. He wore cropped jeans, a hoodie, and sunglasses. Industry experts noted that the staging indicated Bieber's desire to focus entirely on his vocals.
Bieber's return follows a tumultuous period in his career, according to Hollywood Reporter. He canceled tours due to health issues, sold his music rights, became a father, and parted ways with long-time manager Scooter Braun. Last year, he released the album Swag and its deluxe version, Swag II, earning a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.

Billboard suggested that for fans, the Coachella performance celebrated Justin Bieber's career. For the singer, however, the event offered an opportunity to find peace for himself, his family, and the creative process he works to build.
Last year, Bieber denied drug use rumors. On People, his representative stated he was living well, focusing on his health, artistic projects, and supporting Hailey with their child. He underwent many changes last year, ending several unsuitable friendships and business relationships. Yet, many "insisted on perpetuating negative, sensational, and harmful stories" about his mental and physical health.
Previously, in 6/2022, he announced the postponement of his Justice international tour due to partial facial paralysis, which prevented him from blinking or smiling. Two years prior, he was diagnosed with Lyme disease and infectious mononucleosis.
Several guest artists joined Bieber, including Tems, Wizkid, Dijon, and The Kid Laroi, adding diverse musical flavors. The show concluded with Bieber performing "Daisies" with singer Mk.gee before fireworks lit up the night. Bieber then thanked the audience and quickly left the stage. He has another performance scheduled for 18/4.
