Nhung Kate and stars support Johnny Tri Nguyen's return to screen

Actress Nhung Kate, a former partner of actor Johnny Tri Nguyen, was among the stars who attended to congratulate him and the crew on the premiere of "Ho Linh Trang Si" on the evening of 25/8.

The beauty garnered attention at the red carpet premiere of the film, for which Johnny Tri Nguyen served as action director, in TP HCM. Nhung Kate stated she had been looking forward to the film since its announcement, due to her passion for historical fantasy and martial arts genres.

This project marks Johnny Tri Nguyen's return to Vietnamese cinema after 10 years. For many years, he primarily focused on managing the Lien Phong martial arts academy in TP HCM. Occasionally, he played supporting roles in Hollywood films, such as The Continental: From the World of John Wick (2023) series, a prequel about John Wick, where he appeared alongside Nhung Kate.

In 2025, Johnny Tri Nguyen announced that he and Nhung Kate had separated after 12 years of dating. At the time, he stated there were no conflicts, "just a loss of feelings, leading to the decision to go their separate ways".

Director Ngo Thanh Van and her husband Huy Tran walked hand-in-hand on the red carpet. The "action star" maintains a close relationship with Johnny Tri Nguyen, often attending film premieres to support each other. In Ho Linh Trang Si, Dang Tran, Huy Tran's younger brother, plays a supporting role with many martial arts scenes on the river.

The film premiered on National Day, nearly 10 years after the crew began developing it. The historical fantasy film opens with the assassination of King Dinh Tien Hoang. Seven warriors are entrusted with a mission: To race against time, confront hostile forces, and transport the king's coffin in seven directions. The objective of this mission is to deceive enemies attempting to desecrate the king's tomb.
