On the evening of 24/8, designer Ho Tran Da Thao introduced her collection, "From Roots to Future," at the Asian Heritage Night program in Singapore. This event, part of a state reception hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore, celebrated the 81st anniversary of Vietnam's National Day on 2/9. Over 400 guests, including members of the diplomatic corps, government agencies, and the Singaporean business community, attended the showcase.

The collection beautifully blends traditional Vietnamese ao dai with Peranakan culture, also known as Baba Nyonya. The Peranakan are a community of migrants who lived primarily in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia from the 15th to the 17th centuries. Da Thao's designs feature patterns from brocade robes and imperial court attire, digitally printed onto Bao Loc silk. To add depth and visual interest, some details are meticulously hand-embroidered or beaded.
Vietnamese individuals residing in Singapore participated in the fashion show, walking the runway to the melody of "Xinh Tuoi Viet Nam" (Beautiful Vietnam), performed by singer Doan Trang.

Ho Tran Da Thao, born in 1979 in TP HCM, is an accomplished designer. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in English Linguistics and Literature from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, TP HCM, and was the valedictorian of the Fashion Design program at TAFE institute (Australia). Her career highlights include winning first prize at the Asian Fashion competition in 2004, an award recognized in the British Council's "Young Creative Asian Entrepreneur" book. She established her own brand in 2005. Da Thao’s designs consistently incorporate traditional patterns, drawing inspiration from history and heritage. In 2023, she presented a collection at London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2024.
