According to regulations, candidates for professor and associate professor titles must be the principal author of three to five articles published in journals listed in ISI, Scopus (a database system for abstracts and citations of scientific articles), or other categories specified by the State Professorship Council.
Annually, universities establish grassroots councils to select candidates and propose them to the State Professorship Council. This council then assigns industry and inter-industry councils to evaluate candidates, eliminating those who do not meet the standards, before reviewing and approving the list of qualified candidates.
Born in 1982 in Ha Nam, Tan Nhan graduated from the Vietnam National Academy of Music. She gained recognition after winning first prize in the folk music category of the Sao Mai 2005 competition. Despite her classical vocal training, she has a passion for traditional music, often blending Western techniques with folk music elements in her works. In 2013, she released the album 'Yem Dao Xuong Pho', which combined *xam* (a traditional Vietnamese genre of blind musicians' singing), *cheo* (traditional operetta), and *quan ho* (love duets) with jazz music. Following this, she introduced the *xam* music video 'Cong Cha Ngai Me Sinh Thanh', and the albums 'Niu Dai Lua Dao' and 'Nguoi Ha Tinh Co Thuong'.

She received the title of Meritorious Artist in 2023 and has stated her goal to become a People's Teacher.
