On the morning of 29/5, just 15 hours after its release, the music video (MV) surpassed 10 million views and accumulated nearly 900,000 likes on the singer's YouTube channel. According to data tracking site Kworb, the track currently holds the second position among the most-viewed videos worldwide in the past 24 hours, trailing only the MV "OMG!" by the Korean group Alpha Drive One.
The first-day performance of "Come My Way" exceeded that of "Dung lam trai tim anh dau" - Son Tung M-TP's 2024 hit. The new track topped trending song charts in many countries, including Vietnam, the US, Japan, Australia, and Germany. It also achieved the number one spot on several digital music platforms, such as iTunes Vietnam. The song title and related topics generated significant buzz, becoming popular search terms on TikTok and Thread.
Viewers praised the MV's extensive production, featuring diverse filming locations such as Trang An in Ninh Binh, Vietnam, and Downtown Los Angeles in the US. Director Phuong Vu incorporated various folklore elements to create visual effects, including Lac birds, Ly dynasty dragon motifs, and the Bay Nui (An Giang) ox racing festival.
Despite the impressive visuals, some listeners felt Son Tung M-TP's music had not broken new ground. On the social network Thread, many posts commented that the singer's English vocals lacked fluency. Thai VG, a coach on Rap Viet season three, suggested Son Tung needed to improve his pronunciation for better accuracy.
Son Tung M-TP explores Afrobeats, a genre originating from West Africa that combines hip-hop and contemporary pop. He also uses auto-tune, a vocal pitch correction effect, in some sections. After listening to the song, singer Y KRoc commented that the production had an international feel, but the melody and lyrics "still clearly reflected V-pop sensibilities."

The track was co-written by Son Tung M-TP and producer Marvey Muzique, with lyrics entirely in English, penned by Marvey Muzique and Tyga. The song expresses a man's feelings for a woman who changed his life: "Call me your prisoner/ I'm jailed in your love I ain't coming out." The singer's media representative stated the MV marks the next step in Son Tung M-TP's international expansion.
