A new trailer, released on 8/9, unveils the complex relationships at the heart of "The Scandal", a 19+ psychological-romance drama set to premiere on Netflix on 18/9. Starring Son Ye Jin as the enigmatic Lady Cho, Ji Chang Wook as the charming Jo Won, and Nana as the steadfast widow Hee Yeon, the series promises a tale of desire and power.

Set during the Joseon dynasty, Lady Cho is a talented and alluring woman whose ambitions are constrained by her societal status. Refusing to be bound by strict conventions, she devises a captivating wager with Jo Won, known as the era's most flirtatious man, to achieve her goals.

Lady Cho's challenge for Jo Won is to seduce Hee Yeon, a widow determined to remain loyal to her deceased husband. While Lady Cho initially controls the game, she gradually loses command. The boundary between the wager and genuine emotion blurs as Jo Won develops feelings for the widow, and Lady Cho, in turn, finds herself falling for him, wishing for the game to end.

Directed by Jung Ji Woo, "The Scandal" delves into suppressed desires and the complexities of human nature. The series is an adaptation of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’s classic French novel "Dangerous Liaisons". Jung Ji Woo stated that the narrative centers on the question "Who am I?", exploring the conflicts between individual desires and the societal barriers of the time.

Marie Claire reports that the cast is expected to generate significant buzz. Son Ye Jin's portrayal of a calculating woman, willing to use any means in a battle of love and power, marks a departure from her bright roles in dramas such as "Summer Scent", "Crash Landing on You", and "Something in the Rain".

Ji Chang Wook is recognized for his roles in numerous acclaimed works, including "Healer", "The K2", "Fabricated City", and "Empress Ki".

Nana, whose real name is Im Jin Ah, has achieved prominence in both music and acting. She debuted in the Korean entertainment industry as a singer with the group After School. Since 2013, she has consistently been ranked in the top 100 most beautiful faces by TC Candler, an American film, art, and beauty critique site, topping the list in two years (2014 and 2015).

Beyond her singing career, Nana has worked as a model, an MC, and participated in reality television shows. Her acting credits include "The Good Wife", "Into the Ring", "Memorials", "Kill It", "Justice", "Mask Girl", and "My Man is Cupid".
