The article included claims such as: "Trieu Vy and ex-husband Huynh Huu Long are secretly involved in the Xa Tri Giang case", and "While there is no evidence of Trieu Vy committing online fraud, as Huynh Huu Long's former wife, their intertwined interests make separation difficult". The author also implied Trieu Vy was involved in illegal money laundering.

The actress's lawyer described the information as "groundless and entirely fabricated", causing severe damage to Trieu Vy's reputation and significant distress to her mental well-being and personal life.

Trieu Vy's representatives have demanded that the company owning the news portal remove the article and enhance content moderation to prevent similar incidents. The actress stated she would seek legal protection for her rights if her demands are not met.

Xa Tri Giang was extradited from Thailand to Trung Quoc on 13/11. Beijing had issued an arrest warrant for him in 2012, accusing him of operating an illegal online gambling network. The gambling kingpin was apprehended in Thailand in 8/2022 following an Interpol red notice. At the time of his arrest, Xa Tri Giang was the head of a gambling empire that included a casino, entertainment, and tourism complex valued at 15 billion USD, named Shwe Kokko, located on the Thailand-Myanmar border.

In 8/2021, all films starring her were removed from video platforms, and her name was deleted from film award portals. Brands Trieu Vy represented also hid or removed posts related to her on Weibo. These actions led fans to believe the actress was 'cancelled', but authorities have not yet announced the reason for any penalties against Trieu Vy.

In late 2024, the actress stated that she had ended her marriage with Huynh Huu Long many years prior and was therefore not involved in matters concerning her ex-husband. According to On, Huynh Huu Long is burdened with numerous debts, including a demand for 700 million HKD (over 90 million USD). His total debt currently stands at 1,1 billion HKD (141 million USD).

In recent months, Trieu Vy has posted photos of her travels and pilgrimages to Buddhist sites on her personal page.
