Blackpink's Jennie is a notable celebrity championing this trend. Her photo, wearing a floral gilet over a grey sweatshirt, went viral across social media, creating a stir in the Korean fashion scene.

Singer Taeyeon also follows the trend, sporting a small floral vest paired with a colorful shirt.

"Grandma's vests" appeal to young people for their playful, simple charm and nostalgic feel. Domestically, these gilets range from 150,000 to 450,000 Vietnamese dong, making them affordable for students. Many friend groups often wear these vests when traveling or for year-end photos.

Beyond their unique and cute style, the vests offer practicality: they are lightweight, comfortable, and provide good warmth.

Young women who prefer modern aesthetics can also wear this style in monochrome versions.

To enhance visual appeal, many brands have reimagined quilted vests with details like bows and bead embellishments, adding a youthful touch to the designs.

In addition to short styles, brands also offer longer, down-filled options. People playfully dub wearers of these longer versions "wearing a blanket on the street."

Both major and affordable fashion brands developed these long-style vests since 2023, making them suitable for very cold and damp weather.
