Dizziness and headaches are common symptoms of imbalance, weakness, or poor cerebral circulation. Factors such as lack of sleep, heatstroke, dehydration, low or high blood pressure, and vestibular disorders can easily cause this condition.
Doctor Nguyen Tan Sang, from the Department of Neurology at Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, says dizziness and headaches can occur suddenly for a few seconds or last for hours, reducing concentration and increasing the risk of falls and traffic accidents.
To alleviate these symptoms during the holidays, Doctor Sang suggests several drinks to rehydrate and replenish vitamins and minerals.
Water
Dehydration is a common cause of dizziness and headaches. Even during holidays with lots of activities, everyone should drink enough water (1.5-2 liters) daily to maintain fluid balance, stabilize blood pressure, and reduce fatigue. Water also promotes metabolism, eliminates toxins, soothes nervous tension, and improves concentration.
Lemon or orange water
Lemons and oranges are rich in vitamin C, potassium, and citric acid, which help quench thirst, replenish electrolytes, boost immunity, and aid digestion. The natural sourness of lemon stimulates the nerves, bringing a feeling of alertness and reducing nausea and headaches.

Peppermint or chamomile tea
The menthol in peppermint has a muscle-relaxing effect, reducing feelings of head heaviness. Chamomile contains apigenin, an antioxidant that can bind to receptors in the brain, creating a relaxing, mildly sedative effect, thereby reducing anxiety and promoting sleep. Consuming warm peppermint or chamomile tea in the evening not only relieves stress but also improves sleep quality.
Warm ginger tea
Ginger contains gingerol and shogaol, which help dilate blood vessels and promote blood circulation to the brain, thereby reducing headaches caused by vasoconstriction. Ginger tea has anti-inflammatory properties, warms the body, reduces nausea and dizziness, and supports deeper sleep.
Warm milk or milk with turmeric and honey
Drinking a glass of warm milk before bed helps stabilize blood sugar, promotes relaxation, and is beneficial for those with headaches due to insomnia and fatigue. Combining it with turmeric powder or honey can add antioxidants, improve blood circulation, and aid recovery after meals rich in fat or alcohol.
To reduce the risk of dizziness and headaches during the holidays, Doctor Sang recommends maintaining a sufficient sleep schedule and avoiding sudden changes in daily routines. Limit alcohol, tobacco, and salty foods like pickled vegetables and canned goods, as they can increase blood pressure and headaches.
Protect yourself from the sun, avoid prolonged stress, and limit sudden changes in posture. Supplement with natural active ingredients like blueberry or ginkgo biloba to enhance blood and oxygen circulation to the brain, improving dizziness, headaches, and sleep disorders. If dizziness or headaches occur frequently and are prolonged, accompanied by weakness on one side of the body, difficulty speaking, blurred vision, or seizures, seek immediate medical attention, as these could be warning signs of a stroke or serious neurological condition.
