On 25/6, Dr. Tran Le Hoang Van of the Emergency and Critical Care Department at Tam Tri Da Nang General Hospital reported that after successful cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the patient received intensive care, including mechanical ventilation, vasopressors, anti-cerebral edema medication, and heart rate monitoring. After six days of intensive care, the patient recovered well, became alert and communicative, was able to sit up, and prepared for discharge.
According to Dr. Van, this was a complex emergency case, as cardiac arrest due to bronchial asthma is very dangerous. Without timely intervention, it can lead to death or severe neurological sequelae. Time is of the essence, and the patient's prompt arrival and appropriate emergency treatment were crucial to his successful resuscitation.

Bronchial asthma is a chronic inflammatory condition of the airway lining, easily triggered by factors like cold weather, dust, animal dander, and respiratory infections. Without proper management, patients can experience acute asthma attacks leading to respiratory failure and even cardiac arrest.
It is estimated that over 300 million people worldwide have asthma. In Vietnam, the prevalence is about 3.9%, equivalent to 320,000 people. To prevent asthma attacks, it is essential to keep the body warm, especially the neck, chest, and nose. Take maintenance medication as prescribed by the doctor.
Avoid contact with allergens such as tobacco smoke, pollen, and animal dander. Maintain a clean, well-ventilated home with stable humidity. People with severe asthma should have regular check-ups with a respiratory specialist or cardiologist for proper disease management.
