On 11/9, the Drug Administration of Vietnam (DAV) received three reports from Sanofi Vietnam JSC regarding counterfeit Lactacyd Baby Extra Milky wash. The genuine product is manufactured and distributed by Sanofi Vietnam, under authorization number 002968/21/CBMP-HCM, issued by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health on 5/11/2021.
The counterfeit products were discovered on e-commerce platforms like Shopee and in retail stores such as HD Mart Gia Lai. Sanofi Vietnam provided comparisons between the genuine and counterfeit products, highlighting several key differences.
These differences include unusual fonts on the packaging and bottle cap, untraceable batch numbers, the date code "MGF" instead of "MFG", and batch numbers printed with regular ink instead of laser printing. The quality and scent of the counterfeit product also differ significantly from the genuine product.
To protect consumers, the DAV instructed local health departments to inspect cosmetic retailers, trace the source of the counterfeit products, and take strict action against violations. The DAV also urged testing centers to increase product sampling and quality checks for cosmetics at risk of counterfeiting, and to establish hotlines for reporting fake or unverified cosmetics.
