On 16/2, Doctor Nguyen Dinh Lien, Head of the Department of Urology and Andrology Surgery at E Hospital, reported that the Tet holiday on-call team initiated a "code red" and performed an overnight emergency surgery for the wife.
Previously, the wife received initial wound treatment at a private hospital in Viet Yen, Bac Ninh, before being transferred to E Hospital. Doctor Pham Quang Khai, head of the surgical team, ordered a diagnostic laparoscopy to explore the abdomen and treat wounds in the buttocks and perineum.
Doctors reported that the perineal wound was extensive; fortunately, the patient did not sustain injuries to the anus, vagina, or urethra, thus avoiding the risk of needing a colostomy. An abdominal laparoscopy confirmed no bowel perforation. The contaminated wound from the buffalo goring was debrided and sutured to control bleeding. The patient is now out of critical condition.

Doctors advise the public to control animal slaughter during the Tet holiday. People should avoid approaching free-roaming buffalo and cattle herds, and exercise caution when herding to prevent regrettable accidents.
