On 26/6, the Dong Nai City People's Committee issued a plan for free periodic health check-ups for residents. Beginning in 2026, all residents will receive free periodic health check-ups or screenings at least once a year.
According to the plan, the program will run annually from 1/7 to 31/12. The Department of Health will lead coordination with relevant departments, sectors, and local authorities to mobilize both public and private healthcare systems for implementation.
This program will mobilize all commune and ward health stations to manage resident health. Educational institutions will conduct health checks for students at the beginning of the academic year, while businesses will organize screenings for their employees as required by regulations.
In addition to organizing check-ups at qualified hospitals, medical centers, and clinics, the local health sector will establish mobile examination points in residential areas, industrial zones, schools, and worker dormitories to ensure easy access for residents.

Officials will also design specialized check-up campaigns to provide in-depth care for the elderly, women, children, individuals with chronic diseases, and high-risk cases.
To optimize the process, the province is promoting digital transformation and standardizing resident data. Medical staff will immediately update residents' examination results to the electronic health record system, integrating this data directly into the VNeID application.
Through this campaign, authorities expect widespread communication efforts to help residents proactively develop the habit of annual periodic health checks.
Previously, Ha Noi and TP HCM also implemented free universal health check-up packages. Specifically, Ha Noi residents receive free screenings for 12 common diseases, including hypertension, diabetes, cancer, and mental health disorders. Since mid-April, TP HCM has launched free screenings for various diseases and electronic health record creation for residents aged 18 and older. This plan is being implemented sequentially in various areas until the end of the year.
Nationwide, the Ministry of Health proposed organizing free periodic health check-ups or screenings starting in 2026, prioritizing vulnerable groups before expanding to the entire population. This proposal is included in the draft Decree detailing and guiding the implementation of several articles of the Law on Disease Prevention, which is currently open for public comment. This initiative is a concrete step to implement Resolution 72 of the Politburo, aiming for free periodic health check-ups for all citizens and moving towards basic hospital fee exemption by 2030.
