Doctor Nguyen Duc Tuan, Head of the Pediatric Surgery Department at Tam Anh General Hospital Ho Chi Minh City, stated that the patient's penis was obscured by a thick layer of pubic fat and surrounding tissues, necessitating reconstructive surgery to prevent complications.

The surgical team utilized the Lipszyc technique, which firmly secures the penis to underlying supportive tissues, reducing the risk of recurrence. This method offers reduced scarring and a shorter recovery period compared to previous techniques that required an additional incision in the scrotum. Man recovered well and was discharged after 4 days.
According to Doctor Tuan, overweight or obese children can develop buried penis due to excessive pubic fat. While some cases improve as a child loses weight or grows, persistent conditions that cause hygiene difficulties or psychological distress warrant consultation with a pediatric surgery specialist. Early intervention prevents complications that can affect a child's health and psychological well-being into adulthood.
