The three products were recalled following a 20/1 announcement from the Drug Administration of Vietnam, Ministry of Health. Specifically, the affected products include On1 Fresh Sakura hand sanitizer, 500 ml bottle, lot number H1-027, manufactured by Lix Detergent Joint Stock Company in TP HCM. The second product is Acnes Vitamin facial cleanser, 50 g tube, lot number EB01B, expiry date: 08/05/2028, produced by Rohto-Mentholatum Co., Ltd. in Binh Duong. The remaining product is Kleen Hand Wash - Kleen green tea scented hand wash, 500 ml bottle, lot 002, manufactured by Sai Gon Cosmetics Joint Stock Company.
The recall of these three products stems from test samples revealing undeclared sodium benzoate on their labels. Sodium benzoate is a common preservative; however, if not declared on the label, its safe concentration is unknown, potentially impacting health.
The Drug Administration of Vietnam has mandated that the involved businesses recall and destroy the products nationwide. Additionally, the public has been advised to stop buying and using them.
Recently, the Ministry of Health has continuously reviewed and ordered the recall of substandard products, those containing banned substances, or undeclared ingredients. Last week, eight cosmetic products were also recalled due to miconazole content, an antifungal agent removed from the list of permitted cosmetic ingredients.
