Specialist doctor level two Nguyen Duc Tuan, Head of Pediatric Surgery at Tam Anh General Hospital TP HCM, stated that this "two-in-one" surgery requires only one anesthesia, reducing hospital visits, minimizing pain, and saving time and treatment costs.
After laryngeal mask anesthesia, the team performed the tongue-tie release and circumcision using two separate sets of instruments. The team adhered to sterile principles to prevent cross-contamination between the oral cavity and genital area.

After 40 minutes of surgery, Hao was awake, experienced little pain, fed normally, and was discharged on the same day.
Phimosis, an inflammation of the foreskin, is common in children with a tight foreskin, making hygiene difficult and promoting bacterial growth. Tongue-tie, a congenital defect present from birth, is often discovered later during examinations for other conditions.
Doctor Tuan noted that at Tam Anh General Hospital TP HCM, comprehensive pre-operative examinations help detect co-existing abnormalities requiring treatment. This allows doctors to develop optimal intervention plans, simultaneously addressing multiple health issues when the child meets the conditions for surgery.
Doctor Tuan advised parents against retracting or pulling back the foreskin without guidance from medical staff. He stressed the importance of proper genital hygiene and bringing children for examination immediately if they show signs of swelling, redness, pain, discharge, or difficulty urinating. If a child has poor feeding, difficulty sticking out their tongue, abnormal pronunciation, or suspected tongue-tie, parents should seek a specialist examination for proper assessment and timely intervention.
