In a decision announced today, the Drug Administration of Vietnam identified two serious violations by GAMMA Company related to its skincare product line. Specifically, the company produced a batch of Gamma Vinatid cosmetics with a formula inconsistent with its declared specifications. Additionally, GAMMA sold three product batches, including Gamma Neoderm Plus, Gamma Lucci, and Gamma Dolly Ac Acnes Gel, misrepresenting their uses compared to registered claims. The total value of the non-compliant goods sold on the market exceeded 41,6 million dong.
For these violations, authorities fined GAMMA a total of 95 million dong. Producing with incorrect formulas incurred a 70 million dong fine, while misrepresenting product uses resulted in a 25 million dong fine.
Beyond monetary penalties, the regulatory body also imposed an additional sanction: the revocation of GAMMA's cosmetic manufacturing eligibility certificate for one and a half months. The company must recall and destroy all infringing product batches and surrender all illicit gains. GAMMA is required to complete these remedial actions and report the results to the administration within 30 days.
Concurrently, Pharmedic Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company received a 70 million dong fine for producing substandard drugs. A batch of Diclofen (active ingredient Diclofenac sodium 50 mg), batch number 0040724, was found to have a quality violation level 2. According to regulations, this level of violation indicates a failure to meet registered quality standards, posing a risk to treatment efficacy or user safety.
The Drug Administration ordered Pharmedic to destroy the entire infringing batch of Diclofen. Both companies must pay their fines within 10 days of receiving the decision. Any delay will incur an additional penalty of 0,05% per day on the unpaid amount.
Since early January, authorities have consistently detected and addressed numerous cases involving substandard cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, including products containing prohibited substances or undeclared ingredients. These strong actions by the Drug Administration of Vietnam aim to tighten market discipline and protect consumer health amid increasing violations.
