The accident occurred when the girl's mother was taking her home. After parking the motorbike, the mother left the engine running. The impact caused the girl's face to hit the fence, and her chest and abdomen to hit the handlebars. Although conscious, the child was crying intensely, and bleeding heavily from her eye and lip. The family rushed her from Can Duoc, Tay Ninh to the Children's Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City.
On 16/8, Dr. Nguyen Minh Tien, Deputy Director of the hospital, reported that the child had complex injuries to her left eye, with lacerations to both the upper and lower eyelids, as well as a laceration to her lip. Fortunately, CT scans of her head, chest, and abdomen revealed no damage to the eyeball, no signs of intracranial injury, and no damage to internal organs, except for a minor left lung contusion.
The medical team stopped the bleeding, administered tetanus antitoxin and vaccine, along with antibiotics and pain medication. After cleaning the wounds, doctors stitched the lacerations on her left eyelid and lower right lip. The child's condition gradually improved after 5 days of treatment. Her wounds are now dry and clean, and her vision in both eyes is normal.

Dr. Tien advises parents to always secure their young children with safety belts when transporting them on motorbikes. If carrying a child in front, a cushion or pillow should be placed on the handlebars to prevent injuries in case of a collision. When stopping or getting off the motorbike, the engine should be turned off, and the child removed from the vehicle. Never leave a child on a motorbike with the engine running to prevent such accidents.
