On 27/7, hospital officials reported that the 3-year-old girl, who suffered severe multiple injuries, is now off the ventilator, breathing on her own, and has stable circulation. She has opened her eyes and is responding to external stimuli. Her 6-year-old brother is fully conscious and his respiratory and circulatory systems are stable. The wounds of both children are dry and show no signs of infection.
They will continue to receive specialized care and treatment for comprehensive recovery.
The siblings were victims of a car crash that occurred on Nguyen Trac Street in Duong Noi ward on the evening of 16/7. The car collided with a series of parked vehicles and motorcycles. Both children were taken to the hospital with complex injuries. The younger child's condition was more serious, with multiple injuries including a traumatic brain injury, subarachnoid hemorrhage, cerebral edema, a fractured right clavicle, and a bruised lung.

The driver, Le Minh Giap, was driving a white 7-seater vehicle on Nguyen Trac Street towards Yen Nghia urban area when he suddenly accelerated, colliding with two cars parked on the right side of the road. The vehicle continued, hitting 5 motorcycles. The impact killed a 41-year-old pedestrian. Among the injured were a 30-year-old woman and her two children, aged 3 and 6. At least 8 vehicles were damaged.
Giap admitted to police that he had been drinking with friends before driving home. He said he fell asleep at the wheel, causing the accident. A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.861 mg/liter, more than twice the legal limit of 0.4 mg/liter.
