According to guidelines from the Department of Social Order Management Police (C06, Ministry of Public Security), passengers should understand these 4 basic steps for effectively using VNeID at the airport.
Step 1: Prepare your VNeID before arriving at the airport.
Your VNeID account must be verified at level 2. This means your biometric information, including portrait photo and fingerprints, has been authenticated and stored in the National Database. This is crucial for using VNeID as a replacement for traditional travel documents.
Step 2: At the check-in counter
At the airport check-in counter, instead of presenting a physical ID card, simply open the VNeID app and display your electronic identification information or scan the QR code from your VNeID account. The identification QR code can be generated directly on the app's homepage.
Keep in mind that the QR code is valid for only one minute, so generate it close to your turn at the counter. Airline staff will verify the information on your VNeID against your ticket information to complete the check-in process.

Step 3: At the security checkpoint
Present the QR code or the displayed information on your VNeID. For increased security, personnel may use a dedicated account to scan your electronic identification QR code to verify the information. This system confirms whether the VNeID account is valid and issued by the Ministry of Public Security.
Step 4: At the boarding gate
Have your VNeID open and your identification QR code ready. This preparation saves time, reduces stress, and minimizes last-minute issues.
Integrating digital identification not only saves time during check-in but also enhances security and accuracy.
According to C06, VNeID is currently accepted at several airports, including Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai, and Da Nang. However, technical systems are still under development, and some airlines haven't fully integrated with the VNeID verification method.
