The investigation revealed that on the evening of 17/7, Hoang Van Thien and Lang Thanh Huynh's groups, embroiled in a social media dispute, armed themselves with knives, machetes, slingshots loaded with metal pellets, and beer bottles. They agreed to meet at a local cafe to "talk things out."
Huynh's group, not finding their rivals at the cafe, headed back and encountered Thien's group at the Dia Gioi Bridge in Chau Hong Commune. The two groups clashed, throwing beer bottles, brandishing knives, and damaging each other’s motorbikes, causing chaos in the village.
Responding to reports from residents, Chau Hong Commune Police launched an investigation and apprehended the suspects within a few days.
Investigators identified 42 teenagers involved in the incident, most under 16. The ringleaders had planned the confrontation, assigning roles and instructing members to prepare weapons. The suspects rode their motorbikes recklessly, brandishing weapons, and shouting, alarming local residents.
Confiscated items include two knives, a club, three slingshots, 12 motorbikes, 15 phones, and numerous broken beer bottles.
The investigation is ongoing.
