87-year-old woman robbed of life savings

An 87-year-old woman living alone in Quang Tri province was robbed of over 1,5 million VND in savings when a man broke into her home late at night.

Nguyen Van Bao, from Nam Dong Ha ward, was arrested after allegedly breaking into the home of 87-year-old Ho Thi Lai in Tra Lien Tay hamlet, Ai Tu commune, on 11/1 at 0:30. He is accused of restraining Ms. Lai and stealing over 1,5 million VND in savings.

Ms. Lai, who lives alone, reported the incident to Ai Tu Commune Police the same morning. A police investigation quickly identified Bao as the suspect.

At the police station, Bao admitted to the robbery and returned the stolen money. The Ai Tu Commune Police have since transferred the case to the Office of the Criminal Investigation Agency of Quang Tri Provincial Police for further handling.
