Nguyen Thi Lan, 57, is being held in custody by the investigative police agency of Tay Ninh province for alleged robbery.

Police received a report from 91-year-old Nguyen Van Tru and his family stating that on the morning of 22/7, while driving his three-wheeled electric vehicle on the inter-commune road towards Roc A Hamlet - National Highway 22B, he was stopped by a woman who snatched 10 million VND from him and fled.

After hours of investigation, Tay Ninh Provincial Police and Thanh Duc Commune identified Lan, tracked her movements, and located her.

Lan confessed that she was in need of money. Seeing the elderly man on his vehicle with a wad of cash, she approached him, pretended to ask him something, and then snatched the money. The victim grabbed her, causing her to drop some of the cash on the road.

Upon returning to her rented room, Lan counted 10 million VND and spent 2 million VND before being apprehended.
