According to the investigation, at 2:30 two days prior, Thanh was driving a Bentley on Nguyen Trai street. Upon reaching the Nguyen Van Trang intersection in Ben Thanh ward, former District 1, his vehicle collided with a ride-hailing car driven by a 34-year-old man, who was transporting a 39-year-old male passenger. Both parties stopped at the intersection to resolve the issue, but an argument ensued.
A short while later, Dong arrived at the scene on a moto and joined Thanh in an altercation, chasing and assaulting the 39-year-old passenger.
The incident caused a disturbance in the area and only ceased when traffic police and Ben Thanh ward police arrived to restore order. Authorities took all involved parties in for questioning.
Ho Chi Minh City Police stated that many minor collisions or momentary arguments escalate due to a lack of restraint, leading to violence and injuries. Such aggressive behaviors will be investigated by police, resulting in administrative penalties or criminal prosecution if they constitute a crime.
Police advise residents to remain calm and act civilly during traffic incidents, emphasizing the absolute avoidance of violence.
