Dozens of police track gold thief after snatching from shop owner's hand

Nguyen Thanh Hung snatched a 2-chi ring right at the counter, then fled through coconut groves and residential areas, but was tracked by dozens of police and arrested while illegally using drugs.

On 12/2, Hung, 36 years old, was placed under investigation by Hiep Phuoc Commune Police (Nha Be District), in coordination with professional units and Tay Ninh Provincial Police, for property snatching.

According to the investigation, last night, Hung, wearing a mask and a wide-brimmed hat, walked to the Kim Chi 2 gold shop on Nguyen Van Tao Street, Hiep Phuoc Commune. When the owner handed him a 2-chi (24K gold) ring to examine, he unexpectedly grabbed the item and ran.

During his escape, Hung threw away his jacket and hat to avoid identification, climbed over fences, traversed nearby coconut groves and residential homes, then fled towards Tay Ninh province.

Hiep Phuoc Commune Police mobilized over 50 personnel from various forces to establish checkpoints and extract camera footage for tracking. After nearly 5 hours, police, in coordination with local authorities, apprehended Hung after he had sold the gold and was illegally using drugs with two other individuals.
