My mother subsequently transferred the property title into her name. In 2023, she died unexpectedly without leaving a will. At the time, I was working abroad and unaware of the events that transpired back home. I recently returned to discover, much to my surprise, that the entire property is now in my brother's name.
I am an only child, with one brother. Upon investigating, I learned that my brother transferred the title deed into his name solely without consulting me or obtaining my consent. Our paternal and maternal grandparents passed away before 1975, leaving no other first-order inheritors.
I understand that according to the law, when someone dies without a will, the estate should be divided equally among the children. Is my brother's action legal, and what can I do to protect my rights?
