At the police station, Dung confessed that he was in debt and had to pawn his laptop and phone. He faced deadlines for retrieving his pawned items and paying off other debts but had no money, so he decided to rob a gold shop.

The female employee chased after the robber and grabbed his shirt but was dragged along the road. Security camera footage

Two days prior, Dung, wearing a mask and riding a motorbike with a covered license plate, entered Kim Phat Nguyen 3 gold shop in Tan Vinh Loc commune (formerly Vinh Loc B commune, Binh Chanh district). He asked to see a ring worth about 35 million VND and examined it.

Suddenly, Dung ran outside and sped off on his motorbike. A female employee chased him and grabbed his shirt, but he accelerated, dragging her along the roadside. She was unable to stop him.

The Criminal Police Department, along with local police, reviewed security footage and identified the suspect. After hiding in Tan Son Nhi ward (formerly Tan Phu district) for a few hours, Dung was arrested.

The police are verifying Dung's confession.
