Nguyen Duc Tinh, 56, a construction contractor, has been charged by the Hung Yen Provincial Police Investigation Agency with violating labor safety regulations, as outlined in Article 295, Clause 1 of the Penal Code. This follows a fatal incident where a worker fell 5 meters from scaffolding at a residential construction site on 11/9.
The incident occurred around 5:50 PM at a site in Bong Tien village, Vu Tien commune. While dismantling scaffolding, a worker slipped and fell from a first-floor eaves to the ground. The individual died from severe injuries.
Authorities state that as manager and operator, Tinh was obligated to ensure worker safety. However, the contractor failed to provide adequate personal protective equipment and did not implement required fall prevention measures.
The Hung Yen Provincial Police noted that the case highlights a common issue in small-scale construction projects: a complacent attitude, cost-cutting on safety, and prioritizing short-term schedules. This negligence creates a constant risk of tragic accidents.
