Hanoi police launched a criminal investigation and prosecuted 3 suspects on July 11 for producing and trading counterfeit goods.
According to the police, the criminal group collected data on genuine electric motorbike models and then organized counterfeit production at a company in Bac Giang. After assembling the fake electric motorbikes, they sold them to various stores in Hanoi, accompanied by forged documents to legitimize their origin.
From the beginning of January until now, the police have determined that this operation has successfully sold a large number of counterfeit and low-quality electric vehicles, profiting from 3 to 4 million VND per vehicle.

On 16/6, Hanoi police, in coordination with the Domestic Market Management and Development Bureau of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, conducted simultaneous inspections of 3 electric motorbike businesses suspected of violations. The economic police subsequently searched an electric motorbike manufacturing company in Bac Giang province and seized over 100 electric motorbikes without invoices or legal documents, along with various machinery and equipment used for vehicle production. These vehicles all showed signs of counterfeit branding and origin, with a total value exceeding 1 billion VND.
The police assessed that the trade in substandard electric motorbikes is becoming increasingly complex and poses many risks to consumers. This is also one of the causes of serious fire and explosion incidents. Criminals often produce counterfeit electric motorbikes of major brands to deceive authorities and consumers, and to evade taxes.
