Hoang Quoc Viet, deputy director of the drug crime investigation police department, has been appointed director of Thanh Hoa provincial police. The Minister of Public Security's decision was announced this morning at a ceremony held at the Thanh Hoa provincial police headquarters.

Viet takes over the role from Major General To Anh Dung, who had served as director since 6/2025. Dung has been transferred to become chairman of the Thanh Hoa provincial people's committee.

Colonel Hoang Quoc Viet, 51, from Hien Khanh commune, Ninh Binh province (formerly part of Nam Dinh province), has a long history of service with the police force. He spent many years working at the Son La provincial police.

His career in Son La included roles as criminal police team leader, deputy head of Moc Chau district police, and head of the personnel organization department before his promotion to deputy director and head of the Son La provincial police investigation agency.

During his tenure in Son La, Viet directly led and participated in numerous major drug and criminal case investigations in the region.

On 1/11/2022, while serving as deputy director of Son La provincial police, he was appointed deputy director of the drug crime investigation police department.
