On 10/8, the Nghe An Provincial People's Court sentenced Luong Van Hung, 44, a resident of Mon Son commune, to 12 years in prison for murder under Article 123 of the Penal Code. The verdict came after he was found guilty of repeatedly stabbing his lover.
In court, Hung admitted to the act. He claimed repeated verbal abuse and being expelled from the house by his lover led to his frustration and loss of control.
The trial panel determined that Hung used scissors to stab the victim multiple times in vital areas of her body. These actions could have been life-threatening without timely emergency medical intervention and constituted the crime of murder.
For civil compensation, the court ordered Hung to pay the victim 173 million VND.
According to the indictment, Hung began a romantic relationship with Vi Thi Nhung, 50, in early 2023, following his divorce. They lived together as husband and wife at Nhung's home. However, jealousy and conflicts arose. In late 2025, Nhung asked Hung to leave, but he refused and made repeated threats.
The incident occurred around 11h on 19/3. Hung arrived at Nhung's home, where he ate and stayed overnight. After intimate moments, Nhung again asked him to leave. Authorities alleged that Hung, enraged by her request, then took scissors and stabbed her multiple times in the abdomen, chest, and arms, resulting in a 63% injury.

After committing the crime, Hung surrendered at the communal police headquarters.
