Driver with alcohol concentration causes multi-vehicle accident in Hanoi, charged

Driver Nguyen Van Sau drove an automobile with an alcohol concentration of 0.264 mg/l breath, causing a collision on Nguyen Chanh street that resulted in one woman's death.

Following an investigation spanning over two months since the incident, the Public Security of Hanoi initiated proceedings against Mr. Sau, 66, for violating traffic regulations, as outlined in Article 260 of the Penal Code. The Procuracy approved this decision.

Earlier, at approximately 18h50 on 6/3, Mr. Sau was driving a Yaris automobile on Nguyen Chanh street, Yen Hoa ward, towards Tran Duy Hung street. Upon reaching the Nam Trung Yen apartment complex, his automobile collided with 7 automobiles and 3 motorbikes.

Footage from cameras showed the automobile moving quickly before suddenly swerving into motorbikes traveling in the same direction. After the initial impact, the vehicle continued forward, hitting other vehicles.

The accident resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to two other individuals.

Authorities conducted an alcohol concentration test on Mr. Sau at the time, which yielded a result of 0.264 mg/l of breath.
